I can’t remember exactly where the boat was but I think it was in the georgia specific area kinda off of where you could pet the mini sharks and rays? me and meaghie just kinda wandered in there and it was like omg boat omg giant skeleton this is awesome we should get a picture… so we did~
Personally, I think the River cosplay is more dramatic (quite fitting for the occasion, don't you think?) so I'd go with that one rather than Clara. (: x
That’s what I was kinda leaning towards myself for a lot of those very reasons! Might as well almost pull out the stops and wear my most intense DW costume XD Plus I do kinda love running around as River.
I feel like I may have to take my wig off for the showing itself though lol Thanks for your input! <3
Last week a whoooole bunch of you showed up! Thank you very much for following me here <3 I feel like that big HS shoot went around again?
Anyway, thank for joining me here! I’m currently rather busy training up some epic pokemon and being a mad scientist at the moment, but there should be some SnK progress soon to show at the very least~
This blog can sometimes be a bit dead if I’m not working on a lot, which as a Master’s student can sometimes happen, and you can always follow my personal blog here if you’d like more fandom stuffs with the cosplay as well and something a bit more active to my life~
Lovely to have you all here with me m’dears~ My ask is always open if you have any questions or if you’d just like to talk or anything! <3
First, I just want to say that I adore you and your cosplays. Second, I would love to ask for your advice, if it's no bother. My family and I are cosplaying Brave (my parents as Fergus and Elinor, myself as Merida and my three brothers as the suitors) and I saw your Merida wig post: Since, unfortunately, all my previous cosplays have had simple hair, I don't have much experience with sewing wigs. I was wondering what wigs and techniques you used to achieve such a beautiful SA wig for Merida. (:
Thank you so much for saying so <33
And absolutely! I’d be happy to help~ (I’m so sorry this is so late though oh gosh my last week was the worst ><)
Most of my work in my Merida wig can be found in this tutorial here I made but I can sum it up for you~
I bought a $20 merida ebay wig (just search for merida wigs) and a nice pumpkin Merry wig from Arda. I’ve also recently bought extensions for it to to add highlights and lowlights but you can essentially take any two wigs you like~ ebay is a great source for those!
Other than that, you make one of your wigs the sacrificial wig and one wig your base. Your sacrificial wig will be cut like I showed in my other tutorial to make thin strips of wig hair. You’ll need to find the weft lines on your base wig (the thin strips where the fibres come from on the base) and either sew them down through a round stitch around your weft and your base wig, or you can also glue gun it down if you don’t have the time~ Doing this with most of the wefts that used to be your sacrificial wig will end up with two wigs becoming one and you getting lots of poof and curls :)
I hope that helps! I wish you guys all the luck that costume idea with your family sounds so so so great! :D
regarding those armin wigs, I like the middle one the best! His hair is pretty short in most still shots, but it looks longer whenever it's in motion because of the art style the manga's drawn in. Longer wigs on armin cosplayers tend to look messy, in my opinion. You can always trim a longer wig, though! Good luck!
Thanks so much for your input! I was thinking something along those lines myself… I’m kinda stuck midway between length and colour choice. Mostly because I don’t want to go too short and it look too silly, and I almost want to go for my favourite coloured one in the end, because you’re right, it can always be trimmed~
I feel like in some ways with Armin it might be best to get it cut on you anyway to make sure you get that shape, and have the power to do that then not?
I bought it on eBay back in March! That was before specific wigs for kirigiri were released, so I just searched for silver purple long straight wigs :) I ended up buying the one from seller yexinfu1680 that was pretty cheap, but it came very thin. I ended up cutting it to a shorter length overall as it came really long, and feathered the bangs.
Coming from that experience though, what I’d maybe recommend was if you go for a wig like that, buy two and mix them together to get a thicker wig~
Went to the Legend of Zelda Symphony of Goddesses tonight and it was wonderful and I sat in awe with chills for most of it and it was just great
And now I have a humongous desire to cosplay from Zelda o.o gosh why have I not done that yet!
Hello there fellow cosplayer :D I was wondering about your Tsubasa-Sakura cosplay how and what material did you use to make the wing hair accessory?
Hello there! :D
I used a material called worbla~ You can find it to buy at cosplaysupplies.com in large sheets. It’s a kind of wood-plastic material that is very easily heat moldable. It’s not incredibly expensive, but more expensive that say clay or craft foam. Ultimately you end up with a really light weight end product which was part of why I picked it to use~
What I did for all of Sakura’s wing pieces (hip, neck, and hair pieces) was zoom in a huge amount on the original photo of the costume so that I was printing whatever piece I wanted to work on out onto one sheet to approx the size I wanted to make the actual piece. I then cut them out to use as a pattern~
You use a heat gun to heat up the worbla and then you can literally mold it however~ I cut out large worbla pieces for both individual wing bits for mold and a large piece for the back that was the final size I wanted the piece to be as a base for the individual bits. The other amazing thing about worbla is that it’s completely self-adhesive! What I did then was mold the individual pieces first into the 3D curved shape I wanted, and then heated all the edges again to adhere to the base piece. I didn’t need any glue at all to adhere all 7 individual pieces for the hair piece onto the base because of that awesome factor of the material. I made all my pieces this way! :)
I honestly recommend worbla very highly, it was really easy to use (I had never worked with it before Sakura) and I loved the end products! :D
Ordered a bodysuit pattern to help me make my Kitty from X-Men evolution costume because I've never made one before on July 12th
And though it was shipped on the 15th IT STILL HASN’T ARRIVED
cue terrified worrying about it not showing up and therefore not being able to make Kitty… It shipped almost a month ago I bought it in advance for a reason why isn’t it here and what happened ;-;
Sent the company an email… Hopefully it gets figured out soon ):
re-posting from personal account because the offer still stands~ (I reaaallly hope this experiment works ): Though ps I changed the link so it sends to my cosplay account ask instead XD)
ALSO ALSO ALSO~
This is my 100th post :D
I really really really want to thank all those you have followed me recently, there’s like 25 of you and that’s insane!
I’m really happy you’re here <3 Thank you so much! Keep in mind sometimes it can get sparse due to busy periods and lack of me working on cosplay, but I try to post cool progress whenever I have it and I hope you enjoy~ Love you all!
